About Joining us
・Registration
We start accepting pre-registrations for an upcoming school year in February. If you would like to pre-register, please email office@bjls.ca. After we receive your pre-registration information, we will send the official registration forms to you in June. Once we confirm your registration forms and tuition payment, we will complete your registration.
・Tuition
BJLS rents classrooms from Burnaby School Board through the Greater Vancouver Heritage Language Association, and our annual tuition changes according to the rental fees. Please contact us at office@bjls.ca for the most up-to-date information.
Installment options for tuition payment are available (2 payments or 8 monthly payments). Sibling discount will apply if two or more children are registered. There are 30 classes per school year.
If joining mid-year, tuition will be pro-rated based on the number of classes remaining in the school year.

・FAQ
Q: Do you have a preschool-age Fundamental Course class?
A: No, we do not. We accept children from age 5(Kindergarten), an age we consider appropriate to learn a new language.
Q: My son is in secondary school and taking a Japanese class there. Does BJLS provide the same classes as in secondary school? What will my son learn that he won't learn in secondary school?
A: At BJLS, your son will learn different things than the secondary school offers. Our experienced and resourceful teachers are all native Japanese speakers, and our class sizes are small enough that we can adapt to students' individual needs.
Q: Do you accept mid-year registration?
A: It depends on the student's level, our class conditions, and the date. Please contact us at office@bjls.ca for consideration.
